Media: Woodcut and Epson Ultrachome Inks on Paper
About the print: Professor Anderson’s work in drawing and printmaking reflects her interest in the organizational structures of our universe. For this project, she printed a hand carved woodblock onto photographs she took of the sky over Roanoke. In the print the sky is support by and expands out from the familiar profile of Tinker Mountain. The overprint pattern opens like a coffered ceiling to expose bits of clouds and sky presenting the glass ceiling perforated. Anderson titled the print And We Continue to Rise to reflect the rich history and traditions of Hollins including the annual ascent up Tinker Mountain as well as how Hollins continues to move ahead and extend horizons for all its students.
Each print is individually printed so variations from print to print make each one unique.
